Last week’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva, is consistently a decent chance to meet for certain different brands than those uncovering in the previously mentioned SIHH. We will in general zero in on very good quality watchmaking in any case, and a week ago we met with a couple of central participants in the (ultra) top of the line fragment. Gatherings like these permit us to get a few involved time and a decent discussion about the different components (actually and aesthetically) of the watches, and one of our first gatherings was with Laurent Ferrier, where we had the favorable luck of seeing two staggering Galet Traveler watches with Cloisonné Enamel dials.
The Laurent Ferrier Galet Traveler US Limited Edition with cloisonné dial was at that point presented in September 2014, as a restricted release for the US market. We had just seen the press pictures of the white gold and pink gold rendition, and it previously looked shocking. Presently we had active time with the new Laurent Ferrier Galet Traveler World, which comes in white gold and pink gold, each highlighting a striking cloisonné veneer dial. A banquet for the eye, and it compliments an astute traveller’s watch, with a cloisonné lacquer guide of the world.
The Galet Traveler World is, not normal for the US rendition, not a restricted release, and can be acquire from Laurent Ferrier retailers around the planet. We were fortunate to see both new forms together, and obviously needed to utilize this chance to photo the two new form for you.
The Galet Traveller’s case is perhaps the littlest watch coming from Laurent Ferrier, and measures 41 mm in width and is (just) 10 mm thick, making it an ideal fit, in any event, when wearing a shirt with twofold sleeves. This is a gentleman’s explorer watch, it’s refined. It is planned, developed and got done with attention to each little detail.
Inside ticks the wonderful type LF 230.01, which includes a miniature rotor and a wealth of hand-completed parts. While the miniature rotor is utilized to diminish the overal stature of a development, the miniature rotor itself needs a greater number of revolutions than a full rotor to turn the fastener wheel, and hence power the fountainhead. Laurent Ferrier made a 30% more proficient escapement (twofold direct-motivation escapement fitted straightforwardly on the equilibrium) and subsequently the miniature rotor needs just 200 pivots for a full turn of the fastener wheel (rather than the 300 turns it would require with an ordinary escapement.)
The format of the development is satisfying, and includes flawlessly planned extensions. The degree of finish is noteworthy, and obviously completely executed by hand: spans are done with Côtes de Genève striping, the primary plate is done with round graining (pèrlage), flanks of the extensions are sloped, wheel spokes are slanted, screw heads are cleaned, inside points of the equilibrium rooster are inclined and cleaned and the miniature rotor connect is angled and cleaned. This is pretty much as great as it gets.
The self-winding development has around 80 hours of force hold, when completely twisted, and its equilibrium vibrates to a 3 Hz cadence (21,600 vph). In the left-hand side of the case band are two pushers, which change the focal hour up or down. The focal hour hand, and obviously additionally the moment hand, are to show the neighborhood season of the explorer. The date (noticeable through a gap at 3 o’clock) is connected to the neighborhood time, and will change appropriately, when the time is set to another area. In the gap at the nine o’clock position is the home time showed with a 24-hour disk.
