Introducing the A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Boutique Edition, now with Grey Dial and back at 37mm (specs & price)

For Watches & Wonders 2015, A. Lange and Söhne adds two new models to their entrance level watch, the Saxonia. This watch, regardless of whether not the hottest of the assortment (compared to the Datograph or the Zeitwerk ) remains perhaps the most ideal deal with regards to elegant, careful, dress-watches – considerably more since the new plan presented at the SIHH 2015 . Previsouly available just with a classical bit dial, the A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia can now be requested in a Boutique Edition with a dark gray dial – hold up for a second, there’s more… It’s back at 37mm.

For 20 years now, the Saxonia had been the traditional offer from A. Lange & Söhne, an immortal watch with an exceptionally classical plan and no other goal than the main one: displaying time with elegance. This assortment was restored during the 2015 version of the SIHH , with another plan (for the hand-wound, the automatic and the dual time releases) and mainly smaller diameters, something we clearly applauded. For sure, the Saxonia Hand-Wound went from 37mm on the more established release to 35mm now… all things considered, as of recently, as this new shop version brings back the larger case that measures 37mm, yet with the new dial, with longer and cleaner files and moment track.

It’s a significant strange decision from Lange to initially scale down the Saxonia and then to bring back a larger version. Conceivably, the 35mm was viewed as excessively small for certain authorities – regardless of whether it is, for us here, at Monochrome-Watches, an ideal decision and great feeling of elegance. Notwithstanding, 37mm remains adequately small to keep the watch appropriately understated and careful, two qualities needed for any dress-watches. Behind the caseback, we discovered back the Calibre L941.1 (the same as in the other hand-wound Saxonia ), a 45-hour power save development got done with the same accuracy and feeling of detail as each different watches manufactured by Lange – which means an appropriate feast for the eyes.

Exclusively available in the 16 official shops of the brand, the new A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Gray Dial (much the same as the Datograph Perpetual ) can be requested in pink gold (priced at $16,600) or in white gold (priced at $17,800). More details on  A. Lange & Sohne official .
